За един отминал бизнес провал

Отдавна се каня да напиша как провала на един съвместен проект, наречен AMS, повлече надолу и фирмата ми - "CYBUILD".

Днес попаднах на статия на Пол Греъм за Startups. Статията е за това кои са изненадващите неща за предприемачите в момент на откриване на Startup. Всъщност се оказва, че нешата които ни изненадват са добре познати и се случват постоянно и навсякъде. Жалко е че не съм бил добре подготвен за тях.

Първо и номер едно сред тези неща, според Пол Греъм е "Be Careful with Cofounders". Проекта, който събори инициативата ми финансово (то винаги събарянето е финансово) беше съоснован с две лица: Spiridon Spiridonov и Billy Saada, за които казаното в статията: "You haven't seen someone's true colors unless you've worked with them on a startup. " звучи болезнено. Звучи така, защото преди да станат "тези лица" те бяха приятели. По тази причина нямаше и договор. Това, което получих в замяна на отдадеността си към проекта беше не само неангажираност, празни обещания, но и лъжи и лукавство. От моя страна много ресурси бяха инвестирани, за да стигнем до момент в който нямаше как да продължа работата си по проекта, без те да започнат да си изпълняват обещанията. Вместо да го направят, те казаха, че приключваме с инициативата. Излишно е да ви казвам, че всякакви отношения с тях са приключени.

Гледайки положително назад (става дума за 2006/7) смятам, че проекта катализира отношенията ни и провала му ме предпази от по-големи грешки с тях. Колкото до фирмата ми, пари както се губят, така и се печелят. Софтуерът за резервации, който разработвах за този проект може да прерастне в нещо завършено, но това ще стане не благодарение на съоснователите, а въпреки тях.

Дебатът за Македония

След разпадането на Югославия се родиха няколко държави. Една от тях, на Югозапад от България, се нарече Македония и с този си акт вся смут в региона. Днес БГНЕС публикува откъс от ТВ-диспут на Любчо Георгиевски със "един от най-ярките привърженици на търсенето на антични корени в днешния етнос на Македония - археологът Паско Кузман". Ето откъси от статията:

Георгиевски каза, че вкарването на антични елементи в държавната политика на страната ще има тежки последствия за нея.
По думите му опитите да се внуши, че македонският народ има предимно антични корени е опит за грубо фалшифициране на историческите факти.
Ако продължаваме по този начин целият свят ще ни се смее, каза още Георгиевски.

Има ли македонския народ антични корени?! Този въпрос ми припомни разговора с моя приятелка от Гърция за произхода на Алексадър Македонски, а именно, че той е бил грък, което не знам да се поставя под въпрос от някой. Въпросът е, че той не е сред античните прародители на днешното население на Югозападната ни съседка. Това разбира се е относително, защото всички в региона сме доста омесени, но факт е, че той е по-скоро сред прародителите на гърците, от колкото на някоя друга нация.

Бившият македонски премиер, който е и един от създателите на ВМРО-ДПМНЕ, отхвърли и твърдението на Кузман, че ако се направи връзка с античните македонци, страната много по-лесно ще защити позициите си в спора с Гърция за името на републиката.

Ааа те хората имали план, създаден с цел да се защити името на републиката. Съжалявам, но мисля че по-скоро съм съгласен с гърците.

Георгиевски на няколко пъти повтори, че днешният етнос в Македония е славянски и няма никаква връзка с държавата на Филип Македонски и Алексанъдр Велики, която е била в други територии, включително в рамките на днешна Гърция.

Георгиевски потвърждава заключението ми. Накрая той се изразява живописно:

Ако ние твърдим, че сме антични македонци, защото те са превзели териториите на днешна Македония, това ще означава, че и народите от днешна Индия ще имат право да се наричат антични македонци, аргументира се Георгиевски.

В този ред на мисли евреите ще могат да кажат, че са антични римляни, а турците ще се радват да чуят, че ние сме антични турци :-D

И ти ли не гласува

Днес в офиса се постави въпроса дали в изборите за Европарламент хората, които не гласуват оказват влияние на изборните резултати.

Твърди се, че с негласуването си, избирателите подпомагат големите партии. Нека кръстим това твърдение “Твърдение 1”.

От всички избиратели на едни избори, част от тях са подали невалидни гласове, друга част са гласували за партии, които не са прескочили бариерата. Последна част от избирателите са гласували за партии, които влизат в парламента. Нека означим броя на последните с R. По принцип броят на избирателните места е зададен. Нека процентът, който е спечелила дадена партия i e Si. При тези условности сумата от всички проценти ще е 100%:

S1 + S2 + S3 + ... + Sk = 100

В този случай броя депутати от дадена партия i ще е (цяло число от):

Sn = 100 * Rn / R

Където Rn е броя гласоподаватели за партия n.

Нека да означим с ∆R избирателите, които е можело да гласуват за тази партия, но не са гласували. Ако бяха гласували, то броя на гласоподавателите за тази партия щеше да е Rn + ∆R. Общия брой гласоподаватели щеше да е: R + ∆R. За процента депутати на тази партия получаваме:

S’n = 100 * (Rn + ∆R) / (R + ∆R) =
= 100 * Rn / (R + ∆R) + 100 * ∆R / (R + ∆R) =
= Sn + 100 * ∆R / (R + ∆R)

Тоест допълнителният процент ∆S, който би получила партията ако някаква част от гласувалите бе гласувала ще е:

∆S = 100 * ∆R / (R + ∆R)

Както виждате ∆S не зависи от Rn, т.е. от това колко силна е партията. Ако ∆S e 5%, а партията е имала 60% то тя ще получи 65%. Ако партията е имала 10% то тя ще получи 15%, а не по-малко, както щеше да е ако беше вярно “Твърдение 1”.

По друг начин стои въпроса ако благодарение на допълнителните гласове друга партия премине четири (или колкото там е) -процентната бариера. Ако гласовете ∆R отидат за нея, то:

S1 + S2 + S3 + ... + Sk + Sk+1 = 100

Тоест, тя би получила процент Sk+1. Което автоматично означава, че останалите партии ще получат 100% - Sk+1, вместо 100%. Така всяка от партиите ще разполага със следния процент гласове:

Sn = 100 * Rn / (R + ∆R)

Както виждате процентът на класиралите се партии намалява рязко асимптотично при увеличаване на броя на гласоподавателите, които гласуват за опонентите им. Далеч по-добре би било ако те не гласуваха въобще или пък ако им се разпръсне вота! По тази причина управляващите при наближаване на избори полагат огромни усилия да потушат основните си опоненти като подтикват недоволните граждани или да не гласуват, или да гласуват за аутсайдерите. По този начин те ги неутрализират.

Ако приемем, че в “Твърдение 1” думата “големите” се отнася за всички партии, които са преминали четири-процентната бариера, а също и че негласувалите са можели да подкрепят партия, която да премине бариерата, то в този случай следва, че “Твърдение 1” е вярно. По тази причина големите партии имат значителен интерес от разпиляването на гласовете на опонентите им по партии, които не могат да преминат бариерата. Очевидно, също така, те имат и интерес от повишаването на прага на бариерата.

В резултат от двата варианта описани по-горе и при условие, че:
• под големи партии се има впредвид партиите с дял, достатъчно над четири-процента;
• негласуващите биха гласували за партии гравитиращи около четири-процентната бариера;
следва че с негласуването, с гласуването с невалиден глас или с гласуването за пълни аутсайдери се подпомагат големите партии.

Общи изводи:
1. С негласуването, с гласуването с невалиден глас или с гласуването за пълни аутсайдери се подпомага запазването на статуквото;
2. Наказателен вот срещу голяма партия се прави с подкрепата на друга голяма партия, но само в случай, че това е вариант за вас. Ако не е, това може да стане с подкрепата към партия, която гравитира около четири-процентната (или колкото там е) бариера. В този случай внимавайте да не гласувате за предрешена голяма партия;
3. Големите партии имат интерес от повишаването на четири-процентната бариера. Всяка от тези партии е готова да повиши прага до нивото си на увереност.

Изводите по-горе са разработени за изборите за Европарламент 2009. Условията за други избори може да не са, но може и да са различни.

Accessing the standard output/error streams in IIS for a CGI application

Днес с Дмитрий успяхме да се докопаме до standard output/error stream на CGI приложение, което работи под Windows XP, IIS 5.1. Оказа се, че това не е хич лесно и затова ще опиша как става.

Първо трябва да се до-инсталират компоненти на IIS, които се наричат "Scripts virtual directory". Намерете компонента в "Add/remove Windows Components", "Internet Information Services (IIS)", "World Wide Web Service".

След това ще можете да намерите разни скриптове в директория: "C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts". Навигирайте до там в конзолата и изпълнете:

cscript /nologo adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/CreateCGIWithNewConsole "1"

Това е достатъчно за да накарате вашето CGI приложение да отвори конзола при следващото му стартиране. При това никакво рестартиране не ми беше необходимо. Повече можете да научите тук.

Как да направите други настройки на IIS или да управлявате сървъра можете да научите от тук. Повече данни за параметъра CreateCGIWithNewConsole вижте тук.

За да получите данните, които се появяват в конзолата, в прозореца на броузъра трябва да направите и нещо друго. Това е доста смешен Майкрософтски хак, за който можете да научите от тук. С две думи трябва да преименувате вашето приложение от xxxx.xxx на nph-xxxx.xxx и съответно да го настроите да се извиква. Без да направите това конзолата ще се затваря преди да можете да прочетете какво пише в нея.

Нашия проблем с това (Lisp) приложение изглежда се дължи на бъг в IIS, който е описан тук.

Как може по друг начин да коментирам факта, че новите паспорти ще са с пръстови отпечатъци?! Това означава, че процедурата за издаване на документи ще изисква да посетим полицията за да ни снемат отпечатъци! Това също означава, че тези нещастници ще разполагат с информация, с която могат да ни вкарат в затвора ако се окажем на грешното място по грешното време, било то виновни за нещо или не. Една долна шайка полага усилия да ни накара да живеем в постоянен страх. Целта и е да властва над нас. Ще им позволим ли? Аз лично започвам да търся начин да им се противопоставя.

Автостъкла Кобра

Не ходете в "Автостъкла Кобра" за услуги. Няма такива мърлячи.

Дори и Дунев не са толко зле (които при източване на старото масло ги домързя да махнат капака отдолу и оляха всичко, а също и ми казаха една цена за масло, а после се оказа друга).

Може ли себеуважаващ се автомонтьор да сложи на капака на кола метални инструменти?!

Преди известно време си намерих колата със счупено предно стъкло, отидох и декларирах щета при застрахователя. По тяхно желание си поръчах от Кобра ново. Днес, след известни усилия, се разбрахме да го сменят.

След смяната в колата си намерих боклуци от калпавата им работа. Новото ми стъкло беше зацапано от силикон. По крайщата изолацията грозно стърчеше. Уж нямало да има проблеми с преместването на лепенките, а ми прехвърлиха само част от тази за ГО. Надраскаха ми вратата и тавана на колата. Оставиха ме да си търся къде да си изхвърля старото стъкло.
